Lahore High Court issues stay order on deportation notices for Afghan medical students
The Lahore High Court has delivered a significant verdict regarding Afghan medical students studying in Pakistan. The court has halted the implementation of two orders issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), under which proceedings were underway to deport Afghan students from the country.
This court decision has brought major relief to hundreds of students who are completing their education at various medical colleges in Pakistan. These students had been facing academic difficulties and concerns about their future for quite some time, as legal complications had arisen regarding their admissions and residency.
The notification issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council had imposed strict conditions regarding the admissions and registration of these students. However, the affected students challenged this decision in the Lahore High Court, after which the court heard the matter and issued an interim stay order.
The court has directed the relevant authorities not to deport any Afghan student from the country until a final decision is reached on the matter. Following this decision, the students have expressed satisfaction, as they will now be able to continue their educational activities without interruption.
This matter is of extreme importance regarding the educational rights of Afghan refugees and students residing in Pakistan. Legal experts state that this action by the court is a positive step toward maintaining humanitarian considerations and educational continuity. Further legal arguments will be presented in the next hearing of the case.
