Record increase in cotton production in Pakistan
Welcoming news has emerged for Pakistan's agricultural economy, according to which a significant increase in cotton crop arrivals has been recorded this year. According to data as of July 15, 527,900 bales of cotton have reached markets across the country.
This figure is 77.3 percent higher compared to the same period last year. Experts say that this is the strongest record for early cotton arrivals in Pakistan's history. This increase is being termed a positive sign for the country's agriculture.
Cotton serves as the raw material for Pakistan's textile industry. This surge in production is expected to not only improve farmers' income but will also prove helpful in increasing exports and stabilizing the national economy.
Government officials and agricultural experts, while terming this trend as welcoming, are expressing hope that if this momentum continues, the overall cotton production targets for the current season will be easily achieved. This will also help in overcoming the shortage of cotton in the country.
