Pakistan's Current Account Deficit: $139 Million Loss at the End of the Fiscal Year
According to Pakistan's economic data, the country's current account deficit has reached $139 million at the end of the current fiscal year. This situation marks a significant change compared to the previous year, as Pakistan had recorded a surplus of $1.838 billion last year.
A current account deficit means that the value of the country's imports, services, and other external payments has exceeded its exports and remittances. According to economists, this shift could increase pressure on the country's balance of external payments.
During the previous year, Pakistan had taken several measures for economic stability, which resulted in the current account remaining in surplus. However, at the end of the current fiscal year, this surplus has vanished and turned into a deficit, which is a significant challenge for the national economy.
The government and the central bank are now reviewing this situation to maintain economic stability. Increasing exports and controlling imports in the coming months are considered essential to bringing the economy back toward improvement.
