Aleema Khan files petition in court against Imran Khan's 'solitary confinement'
Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has filed an important petition in the Islamabad High Court. In this petition, she has raised her voice against the alleged solitary confinement of her brother in jail. Aleema Khan initiated this legal action through her lawyers, Barrister Salman Akram Raja and Barrister Safdar.
The petition alleges that former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being kept in solitary confinement without any court order. Aleema Khan states that keeping her brother isolated from other prisoners is against jail rules and human rights. According to her, the purpose of such restrictions is to put the prisoner under mental pressure.
The petitioner has also taken the stance that Imran Khan is not being allowed to meet his family members and lawyers. Aleema Khan has termed this a serious violation of basic human rights. She told the court that according to the jail manual, every prisoner has the right to meet their legal advisors and relatives, but Imran Khan is being deprived of this.
The court has been requested to immediately end Imran Khan's 'solitary confinement' and provide him with all the facilities he is entitled to according to the law. It remains to be seen what decision the Islamabad High Court will announce on this petition and what response the jail administration will submit in this regard.
