Launch of modern 'chipless' ID cards in Pakistan: Important information for citizens
NADRA Pakistan has announced a major and significant change to the identity card system. 'Chipless' identity cards, which will be equipped with modern technology, are now being introduced in the country. The purpose of this change is to provide citizens with greater ease in obtaining identity documents and to improve security standards.
In the new chipless cards, modern security features have been included in place of the traditional chip. According to officials, these cards have been prepared in accordance with international standards, and the latest printing technology has been used in their production. This measure will make the possibility of card forgery negligible.
It is important for citizens to know that old cards will not be cancelled immediately. Those who already possess cards will find them valid until their expiry date. Only when your card expires or you go to get a new card will you be issued this new modern chipless card.
A major benefit of this change is that it will save time in the card production process. NADRA states that the new system will speed up the printing and delivery process of cards, meaning citizens will not have to wait long to receive their identity cards.
Overall, this initiative is a significant step towards improving Pakistan's digital system. Citizens are advised that they can obtain further information regarding this by contacting NADRA's official website or their nearest offices.
