The Sindh government has presented a budget of 3.652 trillion rupees for the fiscal year 2026-27, announcing a major increase in the salaries of government employees. According to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, no new taxes have been imposed in this budget, and record funds have been allocated for development projects in Karachi. Meanwhile, the federal government has also announced a significant tax reduction in the budget for citizens buying and selling 5 and 10-marla houses.
A major reduction in petrol prices is expected in Pakistan. This development has emerged due to global changes following a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. Following this same global trend, a decrease in gold prices has also been recorded in Pakistan, offering hope of relief for buyers.
On the political front, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has expressed concern over the ongoing protest situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, appealing to the protesters to end the violence and to the government to initiate meaningful negotiations. On the other hand, law enforcement agencies in the Dadyal area of Mirpur claimed to have recovered a drone and weapons during a raid on the house of Mehran Arshad, a leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). The Joint Awami Action Committee is an organization protesting for rights in Azad Kashmir.
