Karachi: 120 people diagnosed with HIV near Wellica Hospital
The HIV virus has been confirmed in 120 people living near Wellica Hospital, located in the SITE area of Karachi. According to health department officials, these cases came to light when symptoms of the virus were observed in some patients at the hospital.
Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani provided details on the situation, stating that the government had launched a large-scale screening campaign in the residential areas surrounding the hospital. During this campaign, medical tests have been conducted on 10,500 people so far to curb the spread of the disease.
Officials say that special measures are being taken to provide medical assistance to the affected individuals. Additionally, work is being done to raise awareness among people in the area about the prevention of this virus and precautionary measures so that no further cases emerge.
The health department has appealed to the public to cooperate with the screening process and to contact the nearest government hospital immediately if any symptoms appear. The government is further investigating this matter to determine the root causes of the virus's spread.
