Petition filed in Islamabad High Court against Imran Khan's 'solitary confinement'

Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has filed an important petition in the Islamabad High Court. In this petition, she has challenged the act of allegedly keeping her brother in 'solitary confinement' in jail.

This legal petition was submitted through Barrister Salman Akram Raja and other prominent lawyers. The petitioner's stance is that Imran Khan is being kept isolated from other prisoners without any court order, which is contrary to prison rules and fundamental human rights.

Aleema Khan stated in her petition that the former prime minister is facing severe difficulties in meeting his lawyers and family members. She claims that Imran Khan has been kept in a place where he cannot communicate with anyone, which she termed illegal and inhumane.

Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. His political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has previously expressed concern several times regarding his security and health in jail. Party leaders say the government is depriving him of basic facilities for political reasons.

The petition requests the court to issue an immediate order to jail authorities to end Imran Khan's solitary confinement. It remains to be seen what decision the Islamabad High Court makes on this matter and whether the former prime minister is granted more rights and facilities within the jail or not.
