Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announces protest towards Islamabad
Pakistan's main opposition party, Tehreek-e-Insaf, has announced a protest march towards the federal capital, Islamabad, on October 4. The party leadership states that they will continue their series of peaceful protests in support of their demands.
On the other hand, federal government officials have expressed concern over this situation. Government circles have warned that if the law and order situation deteriorates at the provincial level, strict measures could be taken, which may include the imposition of Governor's rule.
This political tension is more prominent in the province considered to be the stronghold of Tehreek-e-Insaf. Federal ministers say that challenging the writ of the state under the guise of protest will not be allowed, while the opposition party maintains that peaceful protest is their democratic and constitutional right.
The Islamabad administration has decided to make strict security arrangements in the city. Placing containers on routes entering the federal capital and increasing the number of security personnel are being considered to avoid any untoward incidents.
Political experts in the country say that this growing bitterness between the government and the opposition is becoming an obstacle to solving public issues. Citizens fear that the closure of roads due to the protest will severely affect their daily lives and businesses.
