Pakistan borrowed 5.9 trillion rupees from banks during the current fiscal year
According to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Monday, the government has borrowed a total of 5.9 trillion rupees from banks during the fiscal year 2026. This amount is higher compared to the previous fiscal year.
In the previous fiscal year, i.e., 2025, the government borrowed 5.4 trillion rupees from banks. The data shows that the volume of government debt has increased by 0.5 trillion rupees this year, which indicates a growing debt burden on the national economy.
According to economists, the government relies on borrowing from the banking sector to meet its expenditures and reduce the budget deficit. Such loans impact the national financial system and the investment capacity of banks.
This report released by the State Bank is considered an important document regarding the country's economic situation and government fiscal policies. In the coming times, close attention will be paid to the repayment of these loans and government measures for economic stability.
