Aleema Khan files petition in Islamabad High Court against Imran Khan's 'solitary confinement'
Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has filed an important petition in the Islamabad High Court. In this petition, she has demanded legal action against the alleged solitary confinement of her brother in jail.
The petition was submitted through Barrister Salman Akram Raja and other lawyers. The petitioner's stance is that the former prime minister is being kept in isolation without any court order. According to Aleema Khan, this move is a violation of human rights and prison regulations.
The petition also states that Imran Khan has been kept isolated from other prisoners and restrictions have been imposed on his meetings. Aleema Khan says that as a former prime minister and a citizen, Imran Khan should receive all the basic facilities permitted by law.
The court has been requested to direct the jail authorities to remove Imran Khan from isolation and provide him with facilities like those of general prisoners. Additionally, his lawyers and family members should be allowed to meet him regularly.
The Islamabad High Court will now hear the matter and may seek a response from the jail authorities in this regard. Political and legal circles are closely monitoring this case as it pertains to the situation of a popular leader in prison.
