MDCAT and Registration Declared Mandatory for Medical Education Abroad
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced new and important regulations for Pakistani students wishing to pursue medical education abroad. It will now be mandatory for all such students to pass the MDCAT exam and register with the Council. This decision applies to all students who wish to go to other countries to become doctors.
Council officials state that the primary objective of this step is to secure the future of the students. PMDC has clarified that students who do not meet these requirements will not be allowed to practice or work as doctors in Pakistan after completing their education. This way, students will know in advance whether their degree will be recognized in Pakistan or not.
Along with this, PMDC has also given another important piece of advice to students. The Council stated that before taking admission in any foreign university or college, the reputation and affiliation of that institution should be thoroughly verified. Students should only choose institutions that are internationally recognized so that their time and money are not wasted.
New instructions regarding visas have also been issued. The Council advised students to try to obtain a 'multiple-entry visa' so that they do not face any legal difficulties in coming to Pakistan and returning during their studies. This step has been taken for the convenience of students and to make their travel easier.
Finally, the Council urged parents and students to strictly follow all these instructions. The purpose of these new regulations is to ensure that the standard of Pakistani doctors studying abroad is the same as that of medical institutions within the country. This is expected to bring improvement to Pakistan's health sector.
