Establishment of Children's Hospital in Peshawar: Hospital remains closed due to lack of funds
The project for the first specialized 300-bed hospital built for children in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has yet to be completed. This hospital was a significant step toward providing healthcare facilities for children, but due to administrative and financial issues, it has not yet been made operational.
The Health Department has requested annual funds of 2.9 billion rupees from the government to make this hospital fully functional. Officials state that while the hospital building is ready, modern medical equipment and staff are required to operate it, which necessitates a large sum of money.
A major reason for the delay in this project is cited as obstacles in the communication system and other administrative matters. The hospital's failure to become operational is causing difficulties for parents across the province who rely on government hospitals for their children's treatment.
The provincial government is considering the matter so that funds can be released as soon as possible. The public and social circles have demanded that there be no further delay in such an important matter as children's health and that the hospital be opened to patients immediately.
