Afghan medical students residing in Pakistan demand government assistance to complete their education
Afghan medical students currently in Pakistan have appealed to the government to grant them special concessions to complete their education. These students are currently in the final stages of their medical studies, but they are facing difficulties in continuing their education due to documentation requirements.
The Government of Pakistan has recently adopted a strict policy regarding the verification of documents and the repatriation of foreigners residing illegally. Under this policy, difficulties have increased since October for those individuals who do not possess complete travel or educational documents.
The Afghan students state that they are at a critical juncture in their education, and if they are not given the opportunity to complete their degrees, their future will be bleak. These students have requested the authorities to grant them an exemption on humanitarian grounds based on educational status, so that they may complete their studies and return.
On the other hand, educational experts believe that the loss of these students' education would be a significant setback. Educational institutions and human rights organizations have also urged the government to adopt a lenient approach on this matter so that the students' academic year is not wasted.
So far, no final decision has been made on this matter at the government level; however, the relevant authorities are reviewing the issue. The students are hopeful that the government will consider the importance of their education and reach a positive decision, allowing them to complete their degrees.
