Global concern expressed over the health and prison conditions of former Prime Minister Imran Khan
Global concern is growing regarding the health and prison conditions of Pakistan's former Prime Minister and former cricket captain, Imran Khan. Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, and in recent months, questions have been raised by various quarters regarding his physical condition.
Australian cricket team captain Pat Cummins recently spoke on the matter, stating that Imran Khan should be treated with dignity and respect. This statement from Pat Cummins comes at a time when former cricketers and global figures are expressing concerns about Imran Khan's health and the facilities available to him during his incarceration.
Imran Khan is 73 years old, and his supporters and legal team claim that he is facing difficulties in accessing the necessary medical facilities and other basic rights in prison. Leaders of his party have also demanded that the government provide him with better facilities, taking his health into consideration.
On the other hand, Pakistani authorities maintain that prisoners are being treated in accordance with the law and that Imran Khan is provided with all facilities under prison rules and regulations. The government has consistently rejected allegations that any inappropriate treatment is being meted out to the former Prime Minister.
This issue has not only become a subject of significant debate in domestic politics but is also gaining attention globally regarding human rights and political prisoners. All eyes will remain on the legal and political developments concerning this matter in the coming days.
