Protests and clashes at Plaza 5 de Mayo leave several detained
This Wednesday afternoon, Plaza 5 de Mayo became the scene of intense clashes. Groups of protesters and riot police units clashed during a day of protests that ended with the use of tear gas and several people detained.
The situation became tense when protesters and authorities began a direct confrontation. Police used tear gas to try to disperse the crowd, while some protesters responded with objects and small explosive devices. The atmosphere in the area became difficult for pedestrians due to the smoke and chemicals used by the officers.
As a result of these incidents, authorities confirmed the detention of several citizens participating in the protest. The detainees were taken to nearby police stations to process their legal status. Although an exact number of injuries has not been provided, emergency services were present in the area to assist those affected by the gas.
These demonstrations are part of a series of protests that have been increasing in recent days across the country. Plaza 5 de Mayo remains an important gathering point for citizens seeking to express their social discontent. Authorities recommend that the population avoid the area while police surveillance is maintained to try to ensure public order.
