Tension at Plaza 5 de Mayo: Clashes Between Protesters and Police
This Wednesday afternoon, Plaza 5 de Mayo became the scene of violent clashes between groups of protesters and crowd control units. The situation in this central area has caused great concern among citizens, as protests have increased significantly in recent days.
During the day, police officers used tear gas to try to disperse the people at the scene. For their part, some protesters responded by throwing objects and pyrotechnic devices, locally known as "bombitas," which caused moments of great confusion and noise in the surrounding areas.
As a result of these incidents, authorities reported the arrest of several people involved in the riots. Although an exact official number of detainees has not yet been given, reports indicate that the police intervention was intense in an attempt to restore order in the square and nearby streets.
These demonstrations are part of a climate of social discontent that has grown recently in the country. The protesting groups demand answers to various social demands, while the government asks that the marches be carried out peacefully and without affecting the free movement of other citizens.
For the moment, the atmosphere at Plaza 5 de Mayo continues to be closely monitored by the authorities. More information is expected to be provided in the coming hours regarding the status of the detainees and whether the protests will continue for the rest of the week.
