Heavy clashes between protesters and police at Plaza 5 de Mayo
This Wednesday, Plaza 5 de Mayo became the center of intense protests that ended in clashes between citizens and the police. During the afternoon, the atmosphere became tense when groups of protesters encountered riot units in this area of the city.
According to reports, security agents used tear gas to try to disperse the crowd. For their part, some protesters responded by throwing objects and pyrotechnic devices, known locally as 'bombitas'. These incidents caused alarm among people passing through the area at that time.
As a result of the disturbances, authorities confirmed the arrest of several people involved in the altercations. Additionally, traffic on nearby avenues was interrupted for several hours, generating significant vehicular chaos and difficulties for workers returning to their homes.
These demonstrations reflect an increase in social discontent felt in the country over recent days. While police maintain surveillance in the plaza to prevent new incidents, organizing groups have indicated that protests could continue in the coming days.
