Today's News: BCR raises growth projection for 2026
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru improved its expectations for the national economy's growth over the coming years. Likewise, electoral authorities ratified the validity of thousands of votes after rejecting requests for annulment in Lima and abroad. These decisions define the financial course and legal stability of the country's electoral processes.
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP), the body responsible for monetary stability, raised its economic growth projection for the end of 2026, setting it at 3.4%, compared to the previously estimated 3.2%. According to the bank, this greater dynamism is due to the boost from the non-primary sector (which includes activities such as services and manufacturing), which will help offset the climate impacts that typically affect national production.
On the political and legal front, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) declared the appeals from the Juntos por el Perú party, which requested the annulment of several polling stations, to be unfounded. With this resolution, the highest electoral body ratifies the validity of the results in 1,751 polling stations in Metropolitan Lima and 647 installed in the United States, corresponding to the second presidential election, thereby closing the legal challenges regarding those votes.
