Panic in Los Olivos: Criminals throw a grenade at a travel agency
A violent attack occurred this week in the district of Los Olivos, in Lima, Peru. Two men on a motorcycle threw a military-grade grenade inside an office of the Vía Buss transport company. The incident happened in broad daylight, generating terror among the people who were at the location.
At the moment of the attack, the travel agency was full of passengers waiting to buy tickets or board their buses. The criminals took advantage of a moment of distraction to throw the explosive and quickly escape on their vehicle. Fortunately, despite the gravity of the act, no immediate fatalities were reported, although there was total panic among those present.
The National Police of Peru arrived at the site shortly after to cordon off the area and collect evidence. According to initial investigations, this attack could be related to a case of extortion. It was reported that, after the explosion, the criminals sent threatening messages to the business owners to demand money payments.
These types of criminal acts have recently increased in the Peruvian capital, affecting the transportation sector in a worrying way. Residents and workers in Los Olivos have expressed their fear and are demanding a greater police presence in the streets from the authorities to prevent future attacks.
For now, investigators are reviewing security cameras in the area to identify the motorcyclists' escape route. Authorities hope that these images will help capture those responsible for this attack that has endangered the lives of innocent citizens.
