Suspected Extortionist Captured After Bus Shooting in Lima
In the San Martín de Porres district of Lima, police captured a man suspected of extortion. The arrest occurred following a violent attack on a public transport vehicle that caused panic among passengers and workers in the area.
According to police reports, the attacker fired several shots inside the transport unit. During the incident, a transport company worker sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. Additionally, a female passenger was also affected by the violent situation that took place inside the vehicle.
Following the attack, authorities launched a rapid operation through nearby streets. Thanks to the intervention of security agents, the alleged criminal was detained shortly after the shots were fired. Police are now investigating whether the attack is related to protection money rackets, an extortion problem that frequently affects transport workers in this part of the city.
This event highlights the growing concern over security in the Peruvian capital's public transport system. Local authorities have promised to strengthen surveillance in the district to prevent further attacks and protect both employees and citizens who use these services every day.
