Peruvian police raid homes manufacturing fake 2026 World Cup stickers
The National Police of Peru carried out a major operation in the district of Carabayllo, in Lima. During the intervention, authorities discovered three homes where fake stickers for the upcoming 2026 World Cup were allegedly being manufactured. This tournament is one of the most anticipated events for sports fans worldwide.
According to authorities, these homes functioned as illegal production centers. At the site, thousands of images imitating official and licensed products of the international tournament were found. The counterfeiters used printing equipment to create copies very similar to the originals, in order to deceive collectors and buyers.
As a result of this police action, three people were detained and handed over to the justice system. The suspects face charges for intellectual property crimes. The use of official images without permission from sports organizations is an illegal activity that economically affects the companies holding exclusive marketing rights.
This operation is part of a constant effort by the police to combat piracy and informal trade in the country. Authorities recommend that citizens buy products at authorized locations to ensure quality and support the legal market. The investigation continues to determine if there are more locations or individuals involved in this large-scale counterfeiting network.
