Peruvian Current Affairs: Congressional Decisions, Security, and Electoral Preparations
In the national political landscape, the Congress of the Republic decided to archive a constitutional complaint against former President Dina Boluarte. The Permanent Commission declared the process related to the deaths that occurred during the social protests inadmissible, a decision that also halts investigations against six former state ministers who were included in the case.
Regarding the upcoming elections, candidate Keiko Fujimori held her campaign closing rally in the Lambayeque region. The event took place at the Túcume archaeological complex and was attended by observers from the European Union. On the other hand, the Judiciary rejected a precautionary measure filed by Renzo Reggiardo that sought to suspend the second electoral round, confirming that the process will follow its legal course.
Concerning electoral transparency, the National Jury of Elections (JNE) reminded the public that the official government plans are only those published on its institutional web portal. In this context, expert José Tello clarified that the Juntos por el Perú party has only one official plan, although he also mentioned that changes in the location of polling stations made by ONPE are causing confusion among voters.
Citizen security remains a critical issue following a shooting in the Rímac district, near the Caquetá market. A 21-year-old man died and two people were injured after being attacked by criminals on a motorcycle. In another intervention, the National Police arrested four people in Lince involved in the kidnapping of two Colombian citizens, who were allegedly linked to extortion activities.
In the social sphere, a medical emergency is reported in La Libertad. The family of Cipriano de la Cruz, a patient suffering from bladder cancer, has requested urgent help from the Ministry of Health to repair a machine necessary for his surgery. Without this technical equipment, the hospital doctors cannot perform the operation the patient requires to save his life.
Finally, in culture and sports news, the story behind the stars on football jerseys has been revealed, a tradition that has become a global symbol of success in World Cups. In the music world, Spanish singer Dyango, who will soon give a concert in Lima, expressed strong criticism of current reggaeton lyrics, asserting that he prefers compositions with more meaning and emotional content.
