JNE confirms that the government plans on its web portal are the only official ones
The National Jury of Elections (JNE) of Peru recently recalled a fundamental rule for the upcoming elections. The autonomous body reported that the government plans published on its institutional website are the only valid and official documents for presidential candidates. This measure seeks to provide clarity to voters regarding each party's actual proposals.
According to current electoral regulations, it is strictly forbidden to make modifications to these documents once they have been submitted and published. The JNE emphasized that candidates must respect what they initially delivered, thus ensuring that information does not change during the electoral campaign for momentary political interests.
To reinforce the transparency of the process, the JNE also announced the launch of a new oversight platform. This digital tool will allow for close monitoring of compliance with electoral rules. Thanks to this system, both authorities and citizens will be able to verify that the process is carried out in accordance with the law.
The main objective of these actions is to strengthen democracy and access to information in the country. By having direct access to official plans, citizens can compare the ideas of different candidates fairly. This avoids confusion caused by unofficial versions or last-minute changes in campaign promises.
Finally, the JNE reaffirmed its commitment to legality and the organization of clean elections. Authorities recommend that all voters visit the institutional portal to read the original proposals. Being correctly informed is an essential step for every citizen to exercise their right to vote responsibly and consciously.
