Faster travel from Rzeszów to Warsaw: New railway plans in Poland
Poland is planning a significant modernization of railway infrastructure in the south of the country. The Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (Solidarity Transport Hub) has presented a long-term concept for the development of the connection network, which aims to improve transport between key cities. One of the main assumptions of this project is the construction of new railway lines in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
Currently, a train journey from Rzeszów to Warsaw takes about four hours. Thanks to the planned investments, this time is to be cut in half. Ultimately, passengers will be able to reach Warsaw from the capital of the Podkarpackie region in just two hours, which will significantly impact the comfort of daily commutes and business trips.
The project involves the construction of 200 kilometers of entirely new tracks. This investment is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing the accessibility of rail in regions that have previously been less well-connected to the rest of the country. Modern infrastructure is intended not only to speed up travel but also to increase the safety and punctuality of trains.
Implementing such a large undertaking requires time and enormous financial outlays. Authorities emphasize that the development of the railway is a priority for the Polish economy, as it facilitates the movement of citizens and supports the growth of local businesses. Residents of the Podkarpackie region can expect major changes that will, in the future, make the train the primary means of transport to and from Warsaw.
