Wildfires in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Situation monitored in real time
The fight against numerous wildfires that have broken out across Bosnia and Herzegovina continues. The situation is dynamic, and local emergency services are taking intensive measures to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further across the difficult, mountainous terrain.
Experts from the IQAir platform have released a special map that allows for tracking the location of wildfires in real time. Thanks to this tool, residents and authorities can monitor fire outbreaks as they happen and assess the threat to individual regions of the country.
In addition to the direct threat to forests and buildings, the fires are having a significant impact on air quality in the region. Smoke rising over the affected areas is causing an increase in the concentration of harmful particulate matter, which is particularly dangerous for people with respiratory problems.
Although the situation directly concerns the Balkans, it is being closely monitored by European environmental protection organizations. Similar air quality and wildfire monitoring systems are crucial for safety throughout Europe, especially during summer periods when high temperatures favor the ignition of fires.
At this moment, the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina are appealing to citizens to exercise extreme caution and to follow official announcements. Emergency services remain on high alert to respond to every new report of fire.
