Ministry of Sport denies reports of a joint World Cup bid with Ukraine
The Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism has officially denied reports that it has been in talks with Ukraine regarding a joint bid to host a future FIFA World Cup. Previous media reports suggested that both countries might apply for the right to host this prestigious tournament.
The topic of a joint bid appeared in the public sphere as a potential project aimed at strengthening cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. However, representatives of the sports ministry unequivocally put an end to these speculations, stating that no official negotiations on this matter have taken place.
Organizing the FIFA World Cup is a massive logistical and financial challenge that requires the preparation of modern sports infrastructure and an adequate hotel base. Decisions regarding a candidacy must be preceded by years of analysis and government guarantees, which have not been prepared in this case.
Currently, Poland is focusing on developing domestic sports infrastructure and supporting local sports associations. The Ministry has not confirmed any plans to bid for hosting the World Cup in the near future, which means that the topic of a joint project with Ukraine is definitively closed.
