Proposals for PIT tax changes: Higher threshold and a new rate
New proposals regarding changes to the tax system in Poland have emerged in public debate. Experts and representatives of various circles are analyzing a draft that aims to modify the current rules for settling personal income tax (PIT).
A key element of the proposed changes is raising the tax threshold to 130,000 PLN. Currently, the higher tax rate applies after exceeding an income of 120,000 PLN. Increasing this limit is intended to relieve taxpayers whose earnings are rising along with inflation.
The draft also assumes the introduction of a new tax rate of 24 percent. It would apply to income in the range between 130,000 and 150,000 PLN. This solution aims to more precisely align tax burdens with the level of citizens' earnings.
Experts emphasize that these changes could affect the financial situation of many working Poles. Discussion on the shape of the reform is ongoing, and its final impact on the state budget and taxpayers' wallets will depend on the detailed regulations that will be adopted in the near future.
