Violent storms over Poland: Fire department on full alert
In recent days, a wave of violent storms accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall has swept across Poland. The weather phenomena covered almost the entire country, causing numerous disruptions to the daily lives of residents and to road traffic.
The State Fire Service reported that the past 24 hours have been exceptionally busy for rescuers. Officers intervened thousands of times, mainly to remove broken trees and branches that were blocking roads and damaging power lines. In many towns, local flooding of basements and roads occurred, forcing emergency services to pump out water.
The most difficult situation occurred in the central and southern provinces, where gusty winds tore roofs off residential and farm buildings. Power company workers are working non-stop to restore electricity to thousands of households that were left without power as a result of failures in the transmission networks.
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued the highest level of meteorological warnings for most regions. Experts are appealing to residents to exercise extreme caution, avoid parking cars under trees, and secure items located on balconies and terraces.
The weather situation in the country is beginning to stabilize slowly, however, forecasters are predicting further changes in the weather for the coming weekend. Emergency services remain on full alert to react quickly to any potential further threats related to violent atmospheric phenomena.
