Poland scrambles aircraft in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine
In recent days, the Polish Operational Command of the Armed Forces made the decision to scramble Polish and allied aircraft. These actions were a reaction to the intense missile and drone attacks that Russia carried out on Ukrainian territory, including on targets located close to the Polish border.
The Polish Armed Forces regularly monitor the situation in the airspace to ensure the safety of our country's citizens. These procedures are activated whenever there is a risk that Russian missiles could violate the Polish border or when aviation activity in the region becomes a threat to national security.
General Mieczysław Bieniek, commenting on the situation, emphasized that Russia is not only continuing its aggression against Ukraine but is also increasingly using provocations against NATO member states. According to the expert, we are currently witnessing a clear escalation of activities that requires the North Atlantic Alliance to maintain constant vigilance and defensive readiness.
The situation beyond our eastern border remains tense. Polish authorities are appealing to residents for calm and are assuring them that all air defense systems are on full alert to respond immediately to any external threats should the need arise.
