Record-breaking parade for Polish Armed Forces Day
On Thursday, August 15, Poland celebrates Polish Armed Forces Day. To mark the occasion, the largest military parade in years was held in Warsaw under the slogan "Polska SAFE – Secure Poland." The event attracted thousands of residents of the capital and tourists who wanted to see the most modern equipment of the Polish army.
More than two thousand soldiers representing all branches of the Polish Armed Forces took part in the parade. Alongside Polish units, soldiers from allied countries, including the United States, Great Britain, and Romania, also presented themselves along the march route. The presence of NATO troops underscores the importance of international cooperation in regional security.
Spectators were able to admire an impressive display of military technology. Among the vehicles that drove through Warsaw were Abrams and K2 tanks, HIMARS rocket launchers, and Patriot air defense systems. Dozens of aircraft and helicopters, including modern F-16 and FA-50 fighter jets, also flew over the heads of the gathered crowds, which was one of the most anticipated moments of the event.
Polish Armed Forces Day commemorates the victorious Battle of Warsaw in 1920, known as the "Miracle on the Vistula." On this day, state ceremonies, holy masses, and military picnics are held across the country, during which citizens can learn more about the service of soldiers. This year's parade was not only a show of military strength but also an expression of respect for the history and contemporary defenders of the country.
