Intervention in Gliwice: Man kept pigeons in appalling conditions
Police officers from Gliwice carried out a joint operation with inspectors from the Polish Society for the Protection of Animals. Officers entered the private property of a city resident, against whom suspicions of animal cruelty had been raised. The case concerns the illegal trapping of city pigeons and keeping them in improper conditions.
On-site, the services discovered that the animals were in an extremely poor state. The birds were kept in cramped cages without adequate access to fresh air, clean water, or food. Animal protection inspectors emphasize that such treatment of birds is a crime and violates the Animal Protection Act.
Currently, the police are conducting an investigation into the matter to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident. The man faces severe legal consequences, including a prison sentence for animal cruelty. The rescued pigeons have been placed under the care of specialists who will handle their treatment and recovery.
This incident serves as a reminder to residents of the need to respond to cases of animal abuse. The authorities appeal for any situation where it is suspected that animals are being kept in inhumane conditions to be reported to the appropriate bodies or organizations dedicated to animal protection.
