Poland returns to the European Starlink zone: users can once again use the “Roam” service
Poland has been officially restored to the European “Roam” zone in the Starlink satellite internet system. This decision ends a period of uncertainty for many users who had encountered problems accessing the service in recent weeks. This change is the result of intensive efforts and protests by Polish government representatives, who demanded explanations from the company owned by Elon Musk.
The problem arose when Starlink unexpectedly disabled the ability to use mobile satellite internet in Poland under the “Roam” package. Users who had purchased the service in other European countries could no longer connect to the network within our country. This situation particularly affected travelers and residents of regions where access to traditional telecommunications services is difficult.
The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs initiated urgent talks on this matter with representatives of SpaceX. The government argued that the sudden restriction of internet access was detrimental to citizens and contradicted the principles of the European Union's digital single market. Following a series of negotiations, the company decided to reverse the implemented blocks, restoring full functionality of the service for Polish users.
Experts emphasize that Starlink is playing an increasingly important role in providing connectivity in crisis situations and in hard-to-reach areas. Restoring Poland to the European “Roam” zone means that customers can once again freely use their terminals while traveling across Europe, including within our country.
Currently, the situation in the Starlink system is stable, and users are not reporting any further connection problems. The government has announced that it will continue to monitor the quality of services provided by satellite operators in Poland to ensure the security and continuity of network access for all interested parties.
