Tensions on NATO borders, political changes in Poland, and new news from the world of culture
Russia is intensively expanding its military infrastructure near the borders with Norway, Finland, and the Baltic states. According to a joint investigation by Scandinavian media, the new bases can accommodate up to 115,000 soldiers. Swedish military intelligence assesses that these structures will be fully manned after the end of the war in Ukraine, which is causing great concern in NATO member countries.
Meanwhile, the conflict in the east is moving deeper into Russian territory. Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles struck a factory in the city of Cheboksary, which produces important military components. Witnesses recorded the flight of these large and low-flying machines. At the same time, two bomb explosions occurred in Moscow within a single day. Russian services arrested two teenagers suspected of an attempted attack in connection with this case.
On the international stage, there is also talk of a warning from Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth directed at the Cuban authorities. The Americans announced that attempts by the country to acquire long-range weapons that could threaten the US would lead to a direct confrontation. Meanwhile, in Albania, mass protests have been ongoing in Tirana for ten days. Residents oppose investments by Donald Trump's daughter and son-in-law, which are causing huge controversy in this country popular among Poles.
In Polish politics, the most important event was the questioning of Jarosław Kaczyński at the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw. The PiS chairman testified as a witness in the "two towers" case; however, at the beginning of the meeting, he issued a statement in which he considered the prosecutor leading the case to be an illegally appointed person. Simultaneously, a new association called "Po Pierwsze Polska" (Poland First) was formed within the Law and Justice party. Its leader, Jacek Sasin, explained that the initiative aims to strengthen the party rather than create separate regional structures.
A major road tragedy also occurred in the country, in the town of Bardo in Lower Silesia. A 52-year-old Toyota driver drove onto the sidewalk at high speed, ramming protective posts and hitting pedestrians. As a result of this accident, two people died, including a 12-year-old boy. The police are conducting an investigation to clarify the exact causes of this tragic event.
Finally, news from the world of sports and entertainment. Although the Polish national team will not play in the 2026 World Cup, fans can seek solace in a cinema classic – the cult film "Piłkarski poker" (Soccer Poker) starring Janusz Gajos is available on Netflix. Meanwhile, fantasy fans have reason for optimism, as leaks have emerged about plans to produce a new Witcher film. The new story about Geralt of Rivia is set to return to cinema screens, and the creators promise to learn lessons from previous productions.
