The end of 3G technology in Poland: what does this mean for phone users?

The era of 3G technology is coming to an end in Poland. Major mobile operators, such as T-Mobile, Orange, and Play, are successively shutting down transmitters that support this data transmission standard. This process is necessary to make room for more modern and faster networks, such as 4G LTE and 5G, which offer better call quality and faster internet.

T-Mobile completed the shutdown of its 3G network in mid-2023. Meanwhile, Orange plans to finalize this process by the end of 2025. Other operators are also carrying out similar actions, which means that this technology will completely disappear from the Polish telecommunications market in the near future.

For most users, this change will be almost unnoticeable, as modern smartphones automatically use newer standards. However, problems may affect people who own very old phone models that do not support 4G or 5G technology. In such cases, devices may lose access to the internet, mobile applications, and electronic banking services.

People using older devices should check whether their phone is compatible with newer networks. If a device stops working correctly after 3G is switched off, it will be necessary to replace the smartphone with a newer model. Operators recommend contacting their hotline or visiting a store to ensure that the SIM card and phone are ready for the upcoming changes.
