Controversy surrounding the Poland brand report: prosecutor's office to investigate
The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) has found itself in the spotlight following the publication of a report on promoting the Poland brand abroad. The document, which was intended to outline the direction for developing the country's image, has raised serious concerns. Allegations have emerged that the content of the report was largely generated by artificial intelligence in an unreliable manner, leading to so-called "AI hallucinations," or erroneous and false information.
The matter gained momentum when it turned out that the document contained significant substantive errors and ambiguities regarding the costs of its preparation. Due to suspicions of irregularities in the expenditure of public funds, official notifications were submitted to the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) and the prosecutor's office. These bodies are to investigate whether the process of commissioning and accepting the report was conducted in accordance with the law.
Experts point out that this case is an important lesson for public institutions using modern technologies. They emphasize that while artificial intelligence can support the work of officials, it cannot replace critical thinking and fact-checking by humans. Errors in such an important document can negatively affect Poland's image as a modern business partner.
An internal audit is currently underway at PAIH to clarify how such a low-quality report came to be produced. Representatives of the agency have announced full cooperation with law enforcement agencies in order to clarify all the circumstances of this case. The public is now awaiting the results of the investigation, which are expected to answer the question of who bears responsibility for this error.
