OpenAI calls for new artificial intelligence regulations
OpenAI, the creator of the popular tool ChatGPT, has issued an official appeal to governments around the world. Company representatives emphasize that the development of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing very rapidly, which is why it is necessary to introduce clear and mandatory legal regulations that will ensure user safety.
Experts from OpenAI believe that AI technologies can bring enormous benefits to the economy and science, but they also carry serious risks. Among the main threats are the potential for creating disinformation, cyberattacks, and issues with data privacy protection. The company suggests that international cooperation is essential to avoid dangerous scenarios in the future.
OpenAI's proposals include the creation of special oversight institutions that would vet the most powerful artificial intelligence models before they are released to the public. The company advocates for high safety standards that would apply to all large technology companies, not just select entities.
This topic is particularly important for Poland, as the European Union is currently working on the so-called AI Act. This is the world's first such comprehensive attempt to regulate this technology. Polish companies and institutions will have to adapt to the new regulations, which are intended to protect citizens' rights while simultaneously supporting innovation.
The discussion about the future of AI is becoming a key challenge for politicians and society. The decisions made in the near future will determine how artificial intelligence affects our daily lives, work, and online safety.
