PKP Intercity plans to purchase trains capable of reaching speeds of 350 km/h

PKP Intercity has announced plans to purchase new train sets that will be able to reach speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. This is one of the most important steps toward the modernization of the Polish railway, aimed at shortening travel times between the country's largest cities.

The new trains are intended to be used primarily on routes serving the Central Rail Line and planned lines under the Central Communication Port project. Currently, the fastest trains in Poland, the Pendolino trains, reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h, though for technical reasons they travel slower on most routes.

Experts point out that introducing such high-speed trains requires not only the purchase of modern rolling stock but also a thorough reconstruction of railway infrastructure. Tracks must be properly prepared to handle vehicles reaching such high speeds, which involves major investments in safety and power supply systems.

The decision by PKP Intercity is part of a long-term strategy for the development of rail transport in Poland. The carrier's goal is to increase passenger comfort and make rail a more competitive alternative to road and air transport on domestic routes.

At this moment, the company has not yet provided an exact date for when the first trains of this type will appear on Polish tracks. The process of selecting a supplier and conducting technical tests will likely take several years before passengers can experience this new quality of travel.
