New regulations in Poland: Fighting dangerous pseudomedical therapies
The Polish government has adopted a draft of new regulations aimed at combating medical misinformation and harmful treatment methods. These changes grant the Patient Ombudsman significantly greater powers to monitor services that lack scientific validation.
Currently, treatment methods that are not based on medical evidence are being promoted more and more frequently in Poland. Such practices can be dangerous to the health and lives of patients, which is why the government has decided to introduce stricter control rules.
The new law will allow the Patient Ombudsman to react more quickly in situations where someone offers misleading medical services. The office will be able to more effectively penalize individuals and companies that promote pseudomedical therapies as an alternative to professional treatment.
The goal of these changes is to improve the safety of citizens and increase trust in the official healthcare system. The authorities emphasize that patients must have access to reliable information in order to make informed decisions regarding their health.
The draft bill will now head to parliament for further work. If adopted, the new regulations will come into force in the near future, which will be an important step toward protecting patients from dishonest practices.
