University of Gdańsk becomes the first Polish university to receive the “Healthy Campus” certificate
The University of Gdańsk has achieved a significant international success. The university has been officially awarded the “Healthy Campus” certificate, becoming the first higher education institution in Poland to receive this prestigious recognition for its commitment to the health and well-being of its academic community.
The “Healthy Campus” program, overseen by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), aims to promote healthy lifestyles among university students and staff. The certificate is awarded to institutions that meet rigorous standards in the areas of physical activity, healthy nutrition, and mental health support.
The University of Gdańsk, which educates over 25,000 students, has been investing in the development of sports infrastructure and health-promoting initiatives for years. University authorities emphasize that obtaining this certificate is the result of long-term efforts aimed at improving the quality of life for those studying and working within the university walls.
This distinction places the Gdańsk university among the global leaders in promoting health within the academic environment. This success may serve as an inspiration for other Polish universities planning to implement similar standards to care for the health of their communities.
