Violent Storms Over Poland: Destruction in Opole and Silesia Regions
Violent storms passed over the southern part of Poland yesterday after 5:00 PM. The most difficult situation occurred in the Opole and Silesian voivodeships. Strong winds, accompanied by intense rainfall, caused extensive material damage and forced emergency services into hundreds of interventions.
The most damage was recorded in Strzelce County in the Opole region, particularly in the town of Balcarzowice. The gale there was so strong that it damaged the roofs of many residential and farm buildings. Residents report that the storm was short-lived, but its force was destructive.
Firefighters also worked intensively in the Silesian voivodeship. Their main tasks involved removing fallen trees that blocked local roads and tore down power lines. Many households were temporarily deprived of electricity, which made life difficult for the region's residents.
Fortunately, despite the very dangerous weather conditions, there is no information about any injured persons. Emergency services are now focusing on securing damaged roofs with special tarpaulins to protect the interiors of homes from further rainfall.
Forecasters warn that the weather may remain unpredictable in the near future. Experts remind people not to park cars under trees during strong winds and to stay in safe buildings whenever possible. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and are ready to provide further assistance to those affected.
