Russian Provocations in Poland & the Impact of Heatwaves
Intelligence services are warning of possible Russian actions on Polish territory, while record heatwaves in Europe are taking a deadly toll and threatening agriculture. Attacks on fuel infrastructure are also ongoing in the region.
The risk of Russian provocations targeting Poland and the Baltic states must be taken into account. According to intelligence sources, the Kremlin (the authorities in Moscow) may be testing the cohesion of NATO, the Western defensive alliance, in this way. This warning suggests a need for increased vigilance in the coming period.
Extreme temperatures are becoming a direct threat to health and food prices. Since June 21, more than 1,300 heat-related deaths have been recorded in Europe, and 150 million residents are feeling the effects of the weather. In Germany, a heatwave is destroying grain crops, which could lead to an increase in the prices of agricultural products across the region.
As part of the hostilities in the east, there has been another strike on the Russian energy sector. In Slavyansk-on-Kuban, a refinery is on fire after being attacked overnight by Ukrainian drones. The fire has engulfed key installations, and smoke from the blaze is visible from 100 kilometers away.
