Protest during Radosław Sikorski's book launch in Krakow
On Wednesday, the launch of a new book by Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski took place in a hotel in Krakow. The event, titled "Roman Conversations: Questions for a Time of Unrest," was however disrupted by a group of activists. Protesters appeared at the scene to express their opposition to the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Pro-Palestinian activists demanded decisive action from the Polish government. Their main demand was the imposition of sanctions on Israel for military attacks in the Gaza Strip. The group believes that Poland should speak more loudly about human rights and condemn the military actions affecting the civilian population.
During the protest, participants criticized Radosław Sikorski's current stance. They wanted the minister to officially recognize that genocide is occurring in the Gaza Strip. Banners and chants appeared at the scene, intended to remind the politician of the suffering of people in the Middle East. Activists emphasized that they would not forget the government's current policy on this matter.
Radosław Sikorski came to Krakow to promote his book, which deals with contemporary problems and unrest in the world. The meeting with readers was intended to be an opportunity for a calm discussion, but the presence of protesters changed the character of the evening. This showed how much emotion the Israeli-Palestinian conflict evokes in Polish society.
The situation in Krakow is another example of protests taking place in many European cities in connection with the war in the Middle East. Minister Sikorski has not yet directly addressed the demands presented by the activists during this specific event.
