Poland plans to introduce a new tax for tech giants
The Ministry of Digital Affairs has published a draft of new regulations that propose the introduction of a special tax for the largest global technology companies operating in Poland. According to the proposal, these corporations would pay a 3 percent tax on the revenue they generate in the Polish market.
The goal of this regulation is to ensure fairer taxation of digital giants, which often benefit from a country's infrastructure and user base while paying relatively low income taxes. The government argues that these changes will help level the playing field between international corporations and local businesses.
The draft bill is currently in the early stages of the legislative process. Experts emphasize that the introduction of such a solution could affect the way many popular websites and digital platforms operate in Poland. The Ministry of Digital Affairs expects that the new regulations will help increase state budget revenues.
Similar tax solutions are already being discussed or implemented in other European Union countries. With this project, Poland is joining the group of nations that want to more strictly regulate the activities of the biggest players in the technology sector. We will provide updates on the future of the project once public consultations have concluded.
