Poland plans to introduce a new tax for tech giants
The Ministry of Digital Affairs has published a draft of new regulations aimed at introducing a digital tax in Poland. The new regulation proposes a 3 percent levy on revenues generated by the largest global technology companies operating in the Polish market.
The goal of this solution is to more fairly tax corporations that generate large profits in Poland but often pay taxes in other countries. The Ministry emphasizes that the changes are intended to level the playing field between international giants and local entrepreneurs, who already pay full tax rates in our country.
The draft bill is currently at an early stage of the legislative process. Experts point out that the introduction of such a tax could bring additional financial resources to the state budget, which will be allocated to the further development of Poland's digital infrastructure and support for innovation.
Similar solutions have already been implemented in many other European Union countries, which makes the Polish proposal consistent with broader economic trends in Europe. The government will now hold consultations with representatives of the technology industry to refine the details of the new regulations before their final adoption by parliament.
