Swedish Gripen fighters return to protect Polish skies
The Swedish Air Force will once again support the protection of Polish airspace. According to the latest arrangements, Gripen fighter jets will begin their operations in October. This is a continuation of cooperation within the framework of the NATO Air Policing mission, which aims to strengthen security on the Alliance's eastern flank.
The previous rotation of Swedish pilots in Poland took place between April and August 2025. At that time, the aircraft were stationed at the base in Malbork, from where they conducted regular patrols over our country. This mission was assessed as a significant element of international cooperation in light of the current geopolitical situation.
The presence of Swedish aircraft in Poland is possible thanks to Sweden's full membership in NATO structures. Joint patrols allow for better integration of defense systems and the exchange of experience between pilots from both countries. As a result, Polish skies are constantly monitored by allied forces.
The return of Swedish fighters in October confirms NATO's commitment to protecting its members. Regular rotations of allied troops in Poland are defensive in nature and serve to deter potential threats, ensuring peace for the region's inhabitants.
