Poland's contribution to the future of space: satellite refueling in orbit
Polish technical expertise will play a key role in an upcoming European space mission. Domestic satellite technologies have been selected to participate in a project aimed at demonstrating the capability of refueling satellites directly in Earth's orbit.
Currently, most satellites end their service life the moment their fuel runs out, which generates massive amounts of space debris. The new technology is intended to allow for the replenishment of fuel supplies in operational devices, which will significantly extend their service life and enable more sustainable use of outer space.
The participation of Polish engineers in this international venture confirms Poland's growing position in the space sector. Thanks to advanced technical solutions, Polish companies are becoming important partners for the European Space Agency and other global players in the orbital technology industry.
This mission is a significant step toward the development of a circular economy in space. The success of this project could pave the way for large-scale satellite servicing, which in the future will allow for cheaper and more efficient operations beyond our planet.
