Modern equipment for Israeli elite special forces
The Israeli special unit 212, better known as Sayeret Maglan, has begun the process of replacing its basic protective equipment. Soldiers of this elite formation have received the latest ballistic helmets manufactured by the American company Team Wendy. This decision is aimed at increasing the safety and comfort of operators during demanding combat missions.
The selected helmet models are characterized primarily by their very low weight and high level of protection against shrapnel and projectiles. Thanks to the use of modern composite materials, soldiers can wear the equipment for many hours without experiencing excessive fatigue. This is crucial during long-term operations in difficult terrain, where every second and the unit's mobility count.
The new equipment also features special mounting systems that allow for the quick attachment of additional accessories. Operators can easily mount night vision goggles, tactical cameras, or lighting on the helmets, which significantly improves their effectiveness during operations conducted at night or inside buildings. Such upgrades are standard in modern armies around the world.
Although the information directly concerns the Israeli armed forces, it is also relevant for observers from Poland. Polish special units, such as GROM or Formoza, also constantly analyze the market for modern equipment to ensure the highest level of protection for their soldiers. The experiences of other armies often become an inspiration for modernization processes in the Polish Armed Forces.
The introduction of Team Wendy helmets into the Sayeret Maglan unit shows how important continuous investment in technology is. In the face of contemporary threats, proper head protection for soldiers is becoming a priority for commands all over the world. It remains to be seen whether similar solutions will be more widely implemented in other branches of the Israeli army in the near future.
