A serious traffic accident shocked the northern region of Rio Grande do Sul on Monday morning (22). A head-on collision on the BR-285 highway resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two daughters. The accident occurred in the city of Colorado, on a stretch near the borders of the municipalities of Carazinho and Saldanha Marinho.
According to information from authorities, the vehicles collided head-on in a single-lane area. Rescue teams and police were quickly called to the scene, but the three victims succumbed to their injuries and passed away before being taken to the hospital. The highway had to be partially closed for the work of forensic experts and the removal of debris.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash survived and has already given an official statement to the police. He recounted his version of the moments preceding the fatal impact. Now, investigators are comparing the driver's statements with the evidence found on the road to understand the exact dynamics of the accident.
The Civil Police and the Federal Highway Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the causes of the tragedy. They are seeking to identify whether there was a mechanical failure, speeding, or an attempt to overtake in a prohibited area. The results of the technical forensic reports are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
The death of the mother and daughters caused great shock and sadness in the local community. This tragic episode reinforces constant warnings about safety on Brazilian roads. Authorities urge drivers to increase their attention and always respect traffic laws to prevent more lives from being lost.
