Moraes authorizes Walter Delgatti to serve sentence under an open regime

Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes authorized this Thursday (7) hacker Walter Delgatti Neto to move to an open prison regime. The decision changes the way the sentence is served, allowing him to remain outside prison during the day while following rules set by the courts.

At the beginning of this year, Moraes had already authorized Delgatti's progression to the semi-open regime. Now, with the new decision, he advances one more step in serving his sentence. Delgatti Neto was sentenced to eight years and three months in prison.

Progression of the prison regime occurs when the courts determine that the imprisoned person has served part of the sentence and meets the legal requirements. In such cases, the convicted person may move from a more restrictive regime to one with fewer restrictions, always under conditions established by the authorities.

Walter Delgatti became known for his work as a hacker in high-profile cases in the country. The STF's decision deals only with the execution of the sentence and the change in the prison regime, in accordance with the rules provided for in the legislation.

With authorization for the open regime, Delgatti will continue serving his sentence, but under less rigid conditions than before. The case remains under judicial supervision.
